Really cool game. The concept is creative and seems well thought out. It's particularly clever how stronger spells have longer words so they're both harder to make and take longer to charge. The letters you get seem well balanced in that you get enough letters to make some spells, but not all of them, so you need to pick and choose what the letters go to. The graphics look great and the music is nice to listen to.

My minor nit-pick is that it's annoying having to re-equip spells constantly. The last spell you used should stay selected.

Super neat mechanic with collecting the letters to form new spells! Big fan. The interpolation of the movement felt very smooth. I liked the dance with the enemy to recharge my spells. Cool UI design, sucked me right into the world of wizardry. Really good entry! One little suggestion would be letting me switch my spells with mousewheel or even cycle with right click, since I already need my mouse to aim. 5* entry for me, one of my favorites. The music is a bit repetitive during longer sessions, but excellent for a last minute addition. The loading times on my machine were a bit long, but it's just a small form factor office PC with a rather slow CPU.

There were definitely some UI enhancements we were thinking of making, like allowing typing in the spell crafting screen (although change spell with mouse wheel is a good one we didn't consider).

Loading times are due to an inefficiency in how we assign sprites to the map tiles. Definitely fixable (or at least improvable), but ran out of time during the jam period --- so the band-aid was to make an animated loading screen.

Thanks for playing!

Beautiful game! The UI was cute and intuitive. The spell crafting is a really cool idea for a mechanic and it was executed perfectly.  There was a ton of spell variety, I also think its super cool you can recycle crafted spells to use their letters. The enemies also had great variety; the shade's area attack was really cool and made for a need for strategy. I wish there were some sound effects, but the music was nice, and I'm sure there would be sounds given enough time. Great Jam!

We were definitely pressed for time near the end; I think music went in with an hour to spare. Glad you enjoyed it!

Very nice presentation, neat idea for a core mechanic. Started off a little slow when I only had Zap and needed 3 hits to kill a wolf, but after I got Bolt it picked up a lot.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! It was definitely intended to be a little slow to start so that you had room to unlock more powerful spells, but maybe we should have made wolves less tedious to fight.
