simple but efficient, a bit tight difficulty wise but not to the point its a massive detriment, once you get the movement momentum it helps a bit. not much more to say, gj !

Developer

I’m very proud of this game.

The game was built to cover the weaknesses I possessed with coding and game design.

Without forcing the S press or the ice slide the game will just be a generic platformer.

Will work to build a game that highlights my strengths?

Interesting concept. I did not quite understand how the melting mechanic works, though.

Developer

What about the melting mechanic is difficult to understand?

Submitted(+1)

I did not understand how hitting "s" influenced the melting. Does the blue block melt faster if I hit "s" more often? So is it better to let the red block get as big as possible before hitting "s" to make it smaller again? Or is it better to keep it as small as possible? i did not really feel much of a difference (except that the red block died if I did not hit "s" at all).

Developer

S holds the same value no matter when you input S.

There is a limit set for how cold the red block can be.

For your questionings; yes they would have made the game better. I should have looked into changing the value of S based on the state of red block.

Tough game. Does the time I choose to cool down my friend really matter. I tried to delay it as much as possible and I tried to do it sooner. The difference did not seem much.

The melting mechanic really forces on to push through as fast as possible. I guess that means you can't add "puzzles". Unless you add things like a "cold area" where the player can pause.

Do you like puzzles?

Submitted(+1)

Depends. I don't know what you planned on how to extend the game. So I'd have imagined things like cold areas where a player can rest and hot areas where player had to go through especially fast.

Since the "mass" of the player changes you could have button that only activate when the player is "thick" enough. Sounds like puzzles to me :D

Music was nice and the melting mechanic is also interesting although I didn't manage to beat it.

Developer

I agree. Music makes or breaks the game. Harry worked hard to make the time to work not this game.

The melting mechanic is very interesting. You definitely got something here. Keep going!

Developer

Thank you. I will continue with this game when I find someone I can reliably work on this game with.

no pun intended but this was very cool!

Love it

Very challenging gameplay. With a lot of jumping and timing you can make it through the levels. With some improvements this can be a great platformer game :)

Developer

I appreciate that.

geum is my discord name.

Want to make a game together?

Thanks for the offer but no. I am very busy person with family. I have very little time to (try to) make games. My game for this JAM was done in like 4 days and I lost a lot of sleep for that :D

Developer

That sucks on my end, looking for additional support. But whether you just don't want to or you're trying to protect your priorities, I salute you sir.

I work 12h per day. If I have some free time I spend it with family or on my stuff. It's nothing against you. It's just that my time is limited and how I use it changes every day. Also, I am a solo programmer for like 12y so, I am used to work alone :D

Thanks for the chat spanning a full day.
