Hedge's first positive impact begins with the lovely cover and follows the interior pages with graphic delight. The border on the pages are delicate, gorgeous and has evocative details (like the sporadic green leafs). The game itself if a pristine implementation of Lumen. One could be intrigued by the length of the setting description: just three pages. It's the kind of thing were you're delighted to be wrong. Every chapter, every entrance in a new rule has more of the setting infused, entwined, a harmonious symbiotic relationship between mechanics and theme. Speaking of mechanics, the simplicity and efficiency seen in Lumen is used to the best of its capacity: warden types, powers, weapon, enemies - all of them bring both well known favorites (who doesn't like immolation?) AND new inventive interactions with the game system and the fae theme.
Hedge is a must have, and I look forward for the expansions!
