I really like how this game went with unique fonts, portrait animations, and full voice acting, but I found myself really questioning the writing and struggling with the UI.
The fonts were really cool for the buttons and having portrait animations was really interesting. Unfortunately, the same facial expressions seem to be repeated, leading to conflicting tones between the dialogue and face.
The first 15 minutes were excruciating for me to go through because of how cliche the twist was and how the antagonists behaved (giving away lots of information for no good reason). After that, I was moderately happy with the writing quality. There were some strange moments such as how Lucas blames Kitsune and the Guardian knowing where we wanted to travel without telling her, but nothing that would really make me stop playing the demo. What did end up stopping me was the incredible clunky UI and Kitsune's voice actor. Half the time I clicked in the settings menu, it wouldn't register. If I pressed a button during a text blurb, the button would not be pressed. The text and auto-forward sliders were also very finicky to control. Not a major gripe, but I think Kitsune's voice actor should have re-recorded many of her lines. Right now she sounds like she's narrating a book, not talking to people.
The purpose of my criticism here isn't to bash on this visual novel and say that it isn't worth anyone's time. There are plenty of people who are perfectly fine with the issues I have mentioned and will enjoy the game much more than I did. I am writing my personal thoughts about the current demo and I do not find the game appealing at this time.
