I was genuinely touched and scared upon getting to the (true) ending, and I halfway expected there to be no post-credits scene. I couldn't figure out what to do with the diary, but after looking up general ending guides, I don't think I want to achieve all the other negative endings to discover the secret ending. I'd generally rather treat it as a single story, rather than a game where the suspension of disbelief has broken. Hmm.
Overall, a great game. Excellent story, ominous music, creepy puzzles and situations which keep you second-guessing the environment (the chairs!), lots of aesthetic and thematic choices to analyze, and Beryl herself does a great job of coming across as mysterious but ultimately understandable. And it's great to learn more about Chris throughout the story, too. And you had a very expressive set of character sprites. An extremely good, well-polished game where I struggle to find anything to criticize!
