Adam has expertly captured and combined two really ideas that I think are really difficult to pull off in TTRPG design.
First, this is a horror game. Horror is hard in TTRPGs, when compared to watching a movie or TV show. Bringing that sense of dread is difficult. But what if you weren't just the main cast of a horror film, but were the elements of the film itself? The very Evil that is pursuing the Friends, and the Survivor, or the setting itself? By shifting the roles from typical horror survival roles to the things that make something horrifying, we get to build a much more engaging scary story together.
Second, this is a masterclass example of asymmetry in RPGs, something near and dear to my heart. Each player at the table is going to approach playing this game mechanically very differently than the others, and that gets you buy in. If I'm playing as a haunted cabin, I expect to have a different experience than another player who is the embodiment of Evil. And Adam accomplishes that feat wonderfully. This is especially the case if you get the printed version, with the layout supporting everyone sitting around a table and having their specific rules in front of them!
This game is a triumph in horror and asymmetry, and I cannot recommend enough grabbing the physical copy if it's still available.
