Jesus as woman, never thought about it before. Even with that, God's only child would have done the same because there was no doubt on his mission in this World, his relationship with his Father just strengthen His decision at every step he took and his humanity did not made things easier but he's overcome the world. Such greater love he has that he died for us and nothing will stop his word to be spread and at every place on the earth.  Jesus does not need followers, he needs friends, he needs brothers, he needs people to dare to love even to their enemies so that he can show his true love just like he did 2020 years ago and just like he does today with every heart that beats like him. 
I think the storyline does not give "Jesus" a real chance to have followers.
