Pica Complex's presentation is definitely its strength - the characters are well crafted and the use of colours for the backgrounds is striking, setting the mood for the scenes they're in. The music was also enjoyable (it has that grungy vibe that made me think of Tails Noir/Backbone). 

But, while there are good things about the writing - like the prose itself being competent with description (outside the rather repetitive gagging parts) and having a strong and fun voice for the main character's internal monologue - the story kinda falls apart when Rory eats the figurines, and it has a tendency to too explicitly state the conflicts over and over again. And while I shan't ick somebody else's yum(?), having 4 identical and lengthy finger-fucking-with-puke scenes back to back loses the effectiveness as erotic, horror, and narrative imagery. Maybe I checked out at some point, but it was entirely lost on me like... why Rory was into her therapist/psychiatrist/psychologist/mommy (note: these are not actually interchangeable) when she goes in there with an entire exposé on why Brenton is awful. This is toxic yuri, sure, but I think it needs something substantial to back it up. On a similar note, the pica complex premise was perhaps the most interesting aspect to see explored, but it ended up mostly serving as a reason for the gagging stuff to take place.
