Insane_Rogue_AI rated The Lock Inside Her

A browser game made in HTML5.

That was a fairly intense experience. I enjoyed the character of Nil and found her issues somewhat relatable. I didn't initially see the twist of the doctor being Ephna coming; my initial guess was that they were each going to be weird and controlling in different ways. I liked the slow building up of their messed up relationship and the slow escalation of the doctor's behavior--the story built suspense very effectively for me. Right after the end when I saw the title screen again and realized that the doctor's special lobotomy pick was the metaphorical "key" I physically cringed from discomfort. I felt the art did a good job of adding to the story. The generally dull and blurred together look of the background images and the way many parts of them look like a messily filled in coloring book feel like they represent the way Nil views her life and the childish view Doctor Murella has of her respectively. I also really liked that while it was clear even early on that something was messed up about the doctor, it was unclear for most of the story what her full intentions with Nil actually were. The way I liked this story was almost the same way I like a good psychological thriller. The background music helped with setting the overall tone and never got annoying to me personally.
