(Review based on build 0.1.11)
Quantum Love Theory is what I'd describe as very, very soft sci-fi with some slice-of-life and romance. Somewhat light on plot so far, but VERY heavy on, well, heavy men.
The basic pitch is our protagonist ending up in an alternate dimension to his own due to a science mishap, where it's warm as opposed to cold and everyone's gay and horny as opposed to the more (dubiously) straight and professional cast on his side of the dimensional rift. The writing can be a bit on the dry and straightforward side, stating actions and emotions in a way that doesn't leave much room to interpret additional depth. The upside to this is a brisk pacing which doesn't get bogged down by the boring parts between the slices of life, focusing instead on character dynamics and interactions which the plot beats often largely serve as a vessel for. Fortunately, those character interactions are always fun to see play out, and the characters in question are pleasant to look at.
Because, damn, EVERYONE is just really hot. Each character design went approximately: "Hmm... Make him even rounder!" Not a BMI below 30 in sight and 30 would in fact be considered small, bless. The actual art style is a good fit for a mostly easygoing story, with a wide variety of very expressive sprites. And, make no mistake about how horny this game gets, works for the sex CGs that ramp up the more the protagonist gets comfortable existing in such a sexually open world. The backgrounds are, as all of the art, custom, pretty and slick!
I'll mention that the music, while there's nothing wrong with it, leans towards being a bit bland and rote for the genre. Nothing stood out to me to the point of remembering the soundscape after playing a build- except Danse Macabre playing for an arcade game fight scene which did make me squeal over how insane of a choice that was. I appreciate it.
Anyway, I recommend Quantum Love Theory to anyone who'd enjoy a fun alternate reality plot, and/or ogle universally sexy big men who don't know what a shirt is so their bellies are out at like, all times. Builds tend to be pretty short, but frequent. At the time of writing Dom's (ironic, he doesn't have a dominant bone in his body) route is the one being focused on (note: I like that the rest of the cast doesn't get forgotten despite the route system!). You'll have around 50k words to dig into if you start now!
