Pink Narcissus rated My Vampire Boyfriend Smokes Lucky Strikes

A browser game made in HTML5.

I have not played Our Wonderland (yet!), but I can imagine My Vampire Boyfriend Smokes Lucky Strikes's conception went approximately like this: "Wow I really loved What We Do in the Shadows, I'm gonna make that with my own characters", and honestly, yeah that was a splendid idea actually!

I'd consider all of the aspects here well done. The writing knows when to take itself seriously, and when to lean into its self-deprecating and post-Tumblr comedy. The incredibly charming art is further elevated by the apparent experience working with Ren'py as an engine (I think I've actually seen tutorials from the creator, so that tracks). The music is for the most part also well curated to set both tone and building up the characters and emotional stakes, although a few early on plus the main menu may have a bit too much of a Halloween vibe going on.

I appreciate that the creator certainly seems to have euhm similar tastes as I do. Iggy, the useless twink protagonist, describes the person who's gotten him heads-over-heels after one interaction with "so he's a short fat little freak who smells kinda weird *blushing uncontrollably*" which had me going based based based based based. Genzou, the short fat little freak, is also a depiction of a disabled character we very rarely see: he's not uwufied at all, getting to be crude, lewd and confident in how hot he is (Pink is this review just gonna be you going "I love fat shortstacks 😍🤏"...)

The premise may not be the most original on the surface level; vampire wanting to suck their victim dry of blood realizing they want to fill the victim with love (and suck them dry) is peddled on every street corner. But My Vampire Boyfriend Smokes Lucky Strikes stands out in its details, perhaps in particular with the disabled vampire love interest and very crucial detail of an ace protagonist in a romance story, both of which are highly relevant in just the first chapter. Really looking forward to see this continue!
