violetoblivion rated OneShot

A downloadable game for Windows and Linux.

One of my favorite games in the world. I played Oneshot: Solstice maybe about a year ago, and it was deeply impactful. It's a game with a lovely soundtrack, excellent writing (that, by its very nature, argues for the importance of good writing!), and a whole lotta heart!

As I've gotten older, I've gotten progressively more disillusioned with triple A games and the companies who make them. A lot of these games, despite all the money thrown at their production, despite the many people hired to work on them, despite the marketing, despite everything, do not have half the heart or merit of Oneshot.

Really, my favorite types of games are ones that tell a good story, and few games do this better than Oneshot.  I laughed, I cried (twice! I can't think of the last game I cried at before that), and it's hard to recommend many games that are more worth the time or money you spend on them!

A good story is deeply important to me, no matter what the media, and Oneshot both has an excellent story, and tells you why stories are important, why, even if they "aren't real", they can still be true, valid, and meaningful.
