This game was all around just very good. It has a strong visual identity, the music slaps.
In terms of gameplay, I love rpgs very much in general, but Silver Daze manages to get rid of a lot of the tiny inconveniences that are usually mainstays in the genre. Healing and revive abilities being one and the same is not a thing I ever really considered, but I have to say I love it so much. Please, more games do this. I also really enjoy that all of the enemies function in specific ways and have their own sorts of patterns so it turns more into a game of learning and adapting rather than just out damaging the enemy. This also makes card collection more of a fun challenge than a hassle since it's based on problem solving. Also really liked how the EP bar works! I kinda consider myself a bit "lazy" when it comes to games. If I can get away with just spamming a single attack forever I will do it. But the EP bar gave me enough incentive to actually put thought into the way I build each character, and enough incentive to actually think "Well, given I am in this situation, I should do this and then that." And I think that's awesome.
This is also an RPG though, so story and characters are important as well! And, if not obvious from the 5 stars I liked those too. The most focus is on Pinn and Kani, since Pinn is the main character here that makes sense, and the thing I love with them is that they have their own problems and their own values, but neither one of them is necessarily in the wrong, even if their needs contradict each other. I always find myself drawn to characters like that, because that's the human experience, baby!!
I also like Wink, because she is round and my friend :)
That being said I do also really enjoy the antagonists too. Some of the are very funny (Cyphon my beloved. We're actually getting married tomorrow) some scare me. Black zone scary. Help.
Aaand some were painfully relatable. Game as a whole kinda relatable. Now I don't think that's a requirement for a game to be good, and I don't think it will be relatable for everyone. But this sure was a game about carrying the past with you but still needing to move forward and I did sure play it at a time where I was having a lot of feelings on that particular subject. I'm not a coward and I'll admit it, I cried a little. I kinda rate stories by how much they make me feel to be honest, because what is art if not expressing and communicating feelings? I enjoyed it a lot.
So, that is to say. Story good. Characters good. Gameplay good. Aesthetics good.
TLDR: Silver Daze good.
