Jamboree rated Madness in Bloom

Jamboree rated a Madness in Bloom 30 days ago
A browser Madness in Bloom made in HTML5.

The ui and music choices were veryyy fitting for the vibe of a healing cabin experience. Reqlly love the greens and yellow used.

At first the 3D bgs in the prologue had thrown me off, but they're well made enough that it stops being distracting after you see about 3 of them. And the mix of 3D bg with 2D sprites is interesting to see in a vn, its not something crazy innovative but its uncommon enough that the game's presentation will stick out in my mind. Also maybe there's something to be said about the difference of dimension when it comes to foreground assets and background assets. The disconnect in the main character has with their current life and relationships, will translate will into the unease they feel as more horror elements of the game start to show. That said about the 3D model bgs, when there are 2D bgs they look nice. Very soft, a big fan of the brush the artist decided to go with for them.

The main character has a soild voice in narration and dialouge, I really enjoyed reading through their perspective. They think almost rhythmically and musically, making the vn very fun to read outloud. Its hard to describe, but I like when narrator's focus in on the colors of the world around them, especially in slice of life settings, it gives the world personality and presence apart from smell, touch and objective surroundings--

"Everything felt soft, the morning light turning the walls a muted gold"

Its a hard balance between going overboard mentioning color and not mentioning it at all. But the way the MC does it feels real enough to life the way ppl actually notice and internalize colors in their day to day.

Heaping on some more love for the MC, the scene where they are screaming in over the rolling hills and having the echos of their pent of frustrations skip out far away to nature in the distance, was emotional!! Their life in the prologue of the game was truly miserable lol, and by the end of it I was cheering for them to go on their week long get away.

James is cute but he does not have tanned skin (lol). "Amused in that calm way of his that made it hard to tell of he was teasing or just... being accurate." Is a very charming description for the lead man of the game, or maybe im just based because that sort of attitude and temperance is my type. "He didn't say it like a joke. Just a quiet promise.... He felt soild. Warm. He didn't hug me back. He just stood there. Letting me. And i felt small.

Luca is also cute (no I am not easy to please/j)! The randomly sexy cg of him with his car door open, very nice 😼

Really excited to see how charaxters I find so charming now will twist as the horror/drama elements are revealed later in development, can't wait to see the the game make good on that yandere tag.
