davidyeetstone rated Abyssal Lust

A browser game made in HTML5.

Overall, this was a great game. I’ve played I don’t know how many AVNs, but this one is firmly in my top 5. About ¾ through my first playthrough, I started jotting down ideas & comments. Some I wrote as I was going through the scene for the first time, so I left the emotionally-charged bits as they are for a more honest feedback.

Definite discrepancies between the words that are said vs the images being shown. On the one hand, it’s bloody annoying when the words & images don’t match up; on the other hand, there is so much that the words describe which aren’t shown in images – I can understand the amount of work it’d take to put all the words into visual images. Doing so would certainly make the experience more immersive & real for the reader, but obviously the final decision for doing so rests with you, the author - & if you feel the juice is worth the squeeze.

It’s frustrating: the assumptions the reader has to make in order for the story to make sense.

Like with Celeste: when she first becomes human; that first night, she sleeps in MC’s bed – but then every other night, does she just sleep on the couch? There’s no mention of her doing so, and she isn’t even seen in MC’s apartment except for days that there is an event/scene specifically about her. And then holy shit; even after they have sex, she still doesn’t sleep in his bed? Wth? So, there’s a single mention of her having her own room after the encounter with Livia – would have been great to know sooner, but it still doesn’t make sense: does MC live in a 1bedroom apartment or 2 bedroom?

With Rose: ever since her phone call about what she saw in the park & MC promised he’d walk her home every night, is it just assumed that he does so? No, bc the first time he thinks about Rose after that call he says a couple of days have passed

Jesus fucking christ. When MC takes Celeste’s virginity, he lays behind her?? How the hell is that as dominant & possessive as missionary? Massive letdown from all the character development & build-up with Celeste. Fucking her from behind is so much less satisfying to watch. During the scene, Celeste talks about seeing his face – but she can’t even see him because MC’s behind her? Then MC telling her to hold onto him, but she’s facing away from him with her hands on the bed? Or MC talking about the way she’s looking at him, but he can’t see her face?

It would be much more satisfying if Celeste was sex-obsessed & always wanting MC to dominate her – especially with their living arrangement.

When MC first goes through Felix’s stuff with Celeste, it would have been really cool to see him have a conversation with her about what’s going on: about how the night she showed up was right after the appearance of the [cardinal demon], and how the mark on his neck is a physical manifestation of the curse from the demon – so figuring out Felix’s research is MC’s best lead for figuring out how to not die. Feels significant.
