I love this game! It's good for players who, like me, enjoy exploring worlds to the last detail and don't require constant input or a lot of action. It's mysterious and weird, creepy and sad, and it doesn't hold your hand but isn't punishingly hard either.
I got this game from the Black Lives Matter bundle and it caught my eye immediately, so much so that it's the first game in the bundle I've finished. I'm buying the sequel too!
Anodyne is not the best or the most polished game out there, for sure. It certainly fits the definition of "weird pixel indie game", it's got lots of empty-ish maps (which some people dislike), etc., so it isn't going to fit all tastes. But I totally recommend it, particularly to people who enjoyed the exploration and atmosphere of Link's Awakening. My feelings when playing Anodyne were pretty similar. As a Link's Awakening fan, I approve!
Also: the main end-game mechanic is spectacular, even more so if you enjoy creepypastas, glitches and the like. Pure genius.
TLDR: atmosphere similar to Link's Awakening, imperfect with personality, creepy, with lots of exploration, I liked it.
