A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Looks nice. I mean, I loved the portraits (they are super nice) and the general look, but the game doesn't sells itself very nicely?
- First, you can only have one savegame, even though there are tons of options/customization to try when starting the game (I wish there was a "default/suggested build" option for each Character class).
- In these options, there's a "mode" (I don't remember the name) that I am not sure if it's a campain type, or a difficulty setting, and there's no explanation next to it.
- In the options, there's a setting for "Activate joystick" (and I love using controllers), but it seems to only apply to piloting the ship in manual mode... which I am not entirely sure why we would want to wander aimlessly into space with... weird feature.
- I can only guess the "inventory" or Squad set-up was bugged, because all my guys (one of each class) had the same gear than the commander (everyone with grenadeer equipment), and clicking on their equipment had no effect. I accidentally hired a random soldier (no confirmation when clicking) costing all my starting money, and the new Scout I hired had Scout gear. I went looking other windows and stuff, and when I came back, even the new scout had Grenadeer Gear, whatever it does.
- When in battle, I didn't know how far my guys could fire, so it was a lot of trial and error by clicking on monsters and trying to figure out the game mechanics.
Even though I am a veteran in games of the genre, I just felt the game "didn't want me to play it", but it still looks kinda interesting?
