As an anxious person, this game was a joy to play. It begins with the implication that you, Claire, are waiting for an important call - but there is no reception where you are. You have to make the summit about which your aunt assures you it's just a short hike ahead. Now, I feel a lot for Claire - as I said, I am a highly anxious person and I felt for her a lot there. I'm also not the hiking type of person so her hesitation and inexperience in the beginning was also super relatable. What happens as you play the game though, as you start to get the hand of gameplay as the player and as you start interacting with the trail and its inhabitant... is relaxation. You are distracted from your wait for the phone call. Suddenly, what you are doing is not a hurdle before your destination but just... your experience. Most of all, the niceness of every NPC I met (even the ones that look gruff at first glance) made me feel at peace, just existing in the same space with them. I wanted to help the ones who were in need of it, I wanted to play with ones who are looking for play, I want to just glide everywhere at peace, explore every nook and cranny... What I'm saying is that the game just made me shed my general anxiety a little bit. It was a gem of an experience.
Thanks to aunt May for making Claire take this much needed vacation, and thanks to everyone who worked on this game for mine.
