Not_Cadmium03 rated Re:RUDY [0.6]

A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

Finally finished. It was interesting enough to get to the end of what's been developed as of 0.6, but kinda off the target when it comes to other storytelling elements.

First, pacing and the plot are in question. Plot has a bit of a pass, because we're hear for the plot rather than actual story. But the days just kinda go. I didn't feel like I pushed past anyone's surface cuz there's no moments for us to settle in. Not even in the sex scenes.

I'll talk about each character individually, which may answer my thoughts about the plot.

Rudy - Not competent enough, nor on his way to be, to be this guy that's is handling all of this in isolation. We had a short dialogue about relying on others, but even that doesn't seem to help at all when they are all withholding information and answers from me. Doesn't know about anything going on, but neither do I.

The Gang - We all knew Rick, yeah, but these guys have no idea what's going on either. Nick is growing on me, but other than that, the rest of them are pretty much strangers.

Filo - She's part of the plot and clearly has answers, but we never talk to her to find out. She kinda just appears again alongside Summons. All of a sudden she's Pres to Orisse. All of a sudden she's valuable so Udyr can't touch her. She CLEARLY knows something and could've told us long before, but we're too busy getting into random fights with Gustav while Carl either gets beat up or happens to look the other way.

Orisse - Disappeared for a while, came back with a backstory. Still don't really know why she's here or how she's a big name involved in all of this either. But she's rich, and apparently a trained fighter? She also can't tell us why things are happening around us.

Ash - Our supposed best friend in our past life that we don't confide in at all. Someone who's in the very back when it comes to moments with our character. We see the gang more than her. Yeah, they've been worked in as numbers to our fight for the plot, but this is our friend too. We got a confession and cooking competition, but no steps toward a resolution so far.

Alyssa - The only character I think we have felt moments with. She's still on the backburner on a slow burn as far as attention and screen time goes. I don't mind the slow burn, but she's just so far from the personal plot we have going. Like a lot of other girls, we need more, and need to let them know what's going on.

Vhaj - Just gone, apparently. Haven't seen her since the movie night between her and Gina. We saw her husband before her return. We got to bang ig, but we're hardly home anymore. Don't even know where our actual home is atp or who we're living with.

Gina - Still mommy, still principal, can't complain very much. We get the most for the plot moments with her. Not that she's the best, but she gets the appropriate amount of screen time for her role.

Claythe - Has her appearances just to be funny. A little beat is developing on whether or not Rudy thinks he should involve her 'in all this,' but I think that's something that should come with all the girls. Hopefully she gets more character than the energy/game girl.

Summons - Thought he was a museum tour guide, turned out to be a powerful rich man? But even his competency has come into doubt, because his plans never work and his personnel that's meant to protect and watch us is a single person who either gets beat up or isn't paying attention enough for us to slip away. Then we get kidnapped. Then we're in another fight. Then back to square one.

Gustav - A cop! Never fails to mention. Don't know why we had conflict with him other than being one of Udyr's men. Got what was coming to him, but still don't know why he was an antagonist when we've already built up Udyr. We got in a fight, failed our lick back. Not trying to kill this guy, but we raided his home just because, and that failed too. Tried luring him into a trap, still don't know why, and we fail that again. Did you know he was a cop though?

Udyr = The big bad. Presence and magnitude is felt, but we still don't have answers, so we don't know why he cares about me, Filo, or Orisse.

And, may as well address the whip cream on top: sex scenes. Feel like they're kinda pushed in after a plot that just started turning its wheels. They kinda just start and stop too. They serve well enough visually, but wish they were handled more delicately. I know we're all just gooning, but a bit of intimacy and aftercare would've been appreciated. At least by me. Would've liked longer, more descriptive scenes too.

TLDR: Wanted to feel more connected to the characters, but the characters either don't know themselves, don't know what's going on, or just won't say what's going on. I don't know what's going on or why we care at all. As far as we know, it involves our mom, but no one will say why.

I may have sounded mostly negative, but I do care a lot about how the game was handled. That's just my thoughts as a fan.
