Magician960 rated Wrong Number

A browser game made in HTML5.

While I believe you really need to play all the endings to justify full price, I really enjoyed my relatively short time with Wrong Number.

Despite only having one love interest Luka and Xander had amazing chemistry, and they had such natural well-written banter which the VAs did such a good job with, especially Thomas G Burt who perfectly sold me on Xander's character. I also liked the CGs on offer, and the music was fine.

One criticism mostly comes from the scope and budget limitations this game had. I loved every single line that had VA, which just made me wish it was fully VAed lol.

Another thing I had mixed opinions on is the overall game progression by splitting the endings between a SFW or NSFW main route. On one hand, I'm impressed by the work of making both routes distinct from each other and not simply making the SFW route the 'censored' version. On the other hand, in the game's description it says the rationale is to accommodate streamers. However, I don't think locking out 50% of the content for them is necessarily 'accommodating' them whereas a simple censor would have sufficed.

As a side effect, I felt a bit of cognitive dissonance between SFW route Xander and NSFW route Xander; it kinda felt he was a completely different character at times which wasn't the case for Luka. While I liked the NSFW route more overall, I actually preferred SFW's version of Xander as his emotional nuances were given more breathing room to be depicted.

On a more positive and personal note, as an Aussie I completely adore the local references and slang that helped me connect so much more with this game.

I hope this won't be the last of Luka and Xander, and I will definitely will be purchasing the accompanying short stories and artbook. This game has lots of heart!
