Fetch rated Up All Night

A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

This game is fucked-up and I love it for that. I figured out the plot, then found out I was wrong, then found out I was right, then found out I was wrong ag- there's lots of twists, is what I'm saying. All of the beats were there, just not where I expected them.

I couldn't bring myself to go through all of the endings. Every ending I saw gave me an extended look at how things went before and as things went horribly wrong. A lot of these endings are gory. The true one nearly made me cry.

It is a very gory game. Nick's processing a lot of trauma and survivor's guilt from a terrible accident. Things happen during the game that remind him of that. The true end offers a modest balm to him, but his overall situation is so much worse. And I think that works.

The music is the only part I couldn't get into. On its own, the tracks were fine, but in context, they usually didn't add to the mood. It's occasionally a little jarring. That said, it might be a matter of taste.

The art, though... fantastic. The characters display a variety of poses and expressions, with variations, that keep every scene feeling lively (or, deadly). And the CG illustrations kick in just when the story needs to highlight an emotional moment.

Fantastic game. Check it out!
