Probing through dark alleyways and sewers is typically fun, and extensive exploration usually leads to decent rewards in most RPG early game sequences. I felt no different when playing through Rogschard, and there was even a rather unique and fun mechanic to make exploration rewards more powerful: creating a dungeon.
I really enjoyed having and creating a dungeon in Rogschard, but sadly the high amount of Exp and powerful equipment I obtained from side quests and main story content caused my dungeon to be overwhelmingly underutilized. I was most disappointed in how I never used the enchanting table, as all my equipment caused me to be mostly impenetrable anyways.
Besides the lack of integrated dungeon content, I also found a lot of bugs/oddities/grammatical inaccuracies I didn't understand or enjoy:
Bugs:
- Wearing a "Maid uniform skirt" and "Snowwyrm gauntlet right" caused the skirt's sprite to incorrectly lay over the Snowwyrm gauntlet's sprite
- Talking to "News Harpy", and selecting "sure" to see her list of news, the words "Choose:" appear twice
- When fighting "The slimy one", and given the options to "penetrate, ride, pleasure, take" but instead selecting "back" I got a error: V1.1.1 (02/08/2025), {previous: 'fight_the_slimy_one_loop', current: 'fight_the_slimy_one_fuck'}: [Action 'back' was undefined]
Grammar Errors:
- Using a strapon with Primilla: "You quickly take a strapon from you belongings"(the last "you" should be "your")
- Learning about dungeon-creating from Nooks: "The Weredog's ears perk up happily, is seems he is glad"(first "is" should be replaced with "it")
- Chatting with Flutty about Rogschard while he is in the dungeon: "The cat things about it"("things" should be "thinks")
- Having vaginal sex with Nooks: "Your cunt slobbers helplessly, drooling an endless stream of as the piston makes its home within you"(between "of" and "as", the word "love" should appear. Based on similar dialogue when choosing anal sex)
- Finding Fishladle in the Overgrowth and having vaginal sex at the end of her hunt for shinies quest: "Here scales are warm"("Here" should be "Her")
- Having vaginal sex with Rozzedew: "You stretched slit twitches"("You" should be "Your")
- Joining Nook's hunt for cute boys in Mosqir temple: "[player name], can keep this hard for me in the meantime?"(after the "can" the word "you" should appear)
- In Qir Dungeon F1 when Rozzedew appears: "Come on, if you don't pretend to stop you, Lady Adramada will murder my ass"(the first "you" should be replaced with "I")
Oddities:
- In dungeon alchemy shop: "Lust suppressant" appears twice
- In Qir Dungeon F2, the "Gloryhole" npc can be fleed from... although the flee sometimes fails /: A gloryhole that prevents running away from it definitely belongs in a SCP facility.
- Loot management was a bit annoying. The most egregious example being defeating multiple enemies in one place and rather than items such as gilders combining, they each appear as an individual stack.
- Player's name and last portrait character's name BOTH appear above the last portrait character's name. Having the player name be way off above another character's name is confusing. Having another character's portrait have two names is also confusing. This confusions could be removed if the player's name appeared under "ROGSCHARD", or if "ROGSCHARD" and player character's name position was flipped around.
- It's weird the walking artifact anomaly in the player bedroom never had a use. If it had a use and I didn't find it that's my bad.
- The Temple gate under Rozzedew seems unlockable with a "Go south" option with "[this door is locked]" appearing when in the same tile as it. If it could be unlocked but I wasn't explorative enough then that's my bad.
- The "Jagged rocks" above news harpy require "[Rockwalking]" but I never found a ring for it or any other way to attain "[Rockwalking]".
Despite the lack of integrated dungeon content and high amount of problems I experienced, I still played through the game and enjoyed the story quite a lot, mostly due to the charm of the characters and the dramatic twists they took, which were fun all the way to the end, including the post-credits scene in Fishladles' cove. Overall I really enjoyed this game.
I reported those bugs/grammar errors/oddities because I want other people's experience to be just a little bit better than what I experienced, though I still liked the game even despite the complications.
