StinkBerry36 rated Quon

A downloadable game for Windows.

I'm giving the description the benefit of the doubt and assuming that it wasn't written by ChatGPT, so judging by the quality of the writing I am also assuming that the developer is not a child who is incapable of taking criticism. Additionally, I would like to apologize in advance for any logical gaps or other errors - I did not sleep well last night, and so I hope that this will be readable enough as-is.

The collision with objects is good, but the looping clip of audio gets really annoying after just the third loop. Tonally, this game feels like it wants to be taken seriously (although I only managed to push myself through the second level, so I don't know if things start to devolve at all), but the music, character design, and character animation destroy that notion for me since the music is annoying and the player character looks like an animate stick of chalk that uses its short, single leg to pull itself around. Also, the description gives the audience very little about what the game actually is - itch.io's tag systems is bad enough, I would recommend that you describe what the actual game is in the description so that people know what they're getting into. Something basic at the bottom of the description would work, something like "this is a somewhat challenging 2D platformer, by the way".

Here's what I did like, though: the challenge and the environmental art. The game's difficulty didn't spike too hard with the second level, suggesting that the developer knows how to do difficulty progression well, and the game's platforming is done well compared to some other extremely obscure indie platformers that I've played and since deleted off my device. I liked the environmental art - the color palette is nice and the art itself is well-done.

That's about it, though. I'm gonna try to get the second level's music out of my head now. Thank you for letting me and others play your game, I hope it improves and that you continue to grow as an artist.
