As someone who currently identifies as Questioning, I've been making a bit of an effort to read more work by trans authors (whether fiction or non-fiction), see what resonates with me and hopefully support people while I'm at it. I caught a Bluesky post about this book by the Transfeminine Review and I figured fuck it, why not. So I sat down to read this and. Christ.
I have read romance. I have read sex scenes. I've enjoyed both in the past. But holy fuck, I don't remember the last time I was both a) furiously reading a story from start to finish in a single sitting and b) felt myself get so hot and flustered reading a story. I was practically swooning.
I loved this so much. Sunny's a fantastic and hilarious point of view character, and in between the comedy, the cuteness, and the flirtation, there was some really solid characterization between Aster's anxieties and imposter syndrome and Sunny's second-guessing of the right way to handle Aster's delicate state. Jay turning out to apparently have knowledge of paranormal matters was extremely funny, in a sort of "In a world where you can just buy pills that trans your gender immediately online, fuck it, why not" sort of way. I really enjoyed this and would love to read more of your work when I find the time. Great job!
