Extremely, terribly funny farce (in the old sense of the word!). Probably the funniest game I own, and I don't mind that I accidentally also bought it elsewhere. All the wit and charm you expect from British comedy, from euphemisms and drama to flawed, ridiculous human beings. Also comes with a 4-person choir, ready to announce every client with a little ditty with scathing, sarcastic, ironic, or even naughty commentary.
Most characters are just trying to have their needs met in a world teetering on the edge of the Middle Ages and the incoming Enlightenment; between and among the Protestant-Catholic wars and the Anglican church. Some are jerks, but amusing jerks who don't get away with their stupid plans, some are kind, most are somewhere in between. Some characters kind of feel like copies of each other, but there's still something to set them apart.
Who knew you could make a game with this much hilarity out of some half-doctor's journals?
