This is a pretty relatable story as I think we all have things wish wouldn't have changed for the worse and that we could go back to living in a better time. Plus how important it is to hold on to hope even when things seem bleak so a better future can be made. I think I woud have liked to see more of the other character's perceptions on the matter because there's a lot of ways people can handle such a situation. But I suspect they were kept minimal to leave interpretation up to the player.
