It's a very well thought out management game, the start on standard is a little difficult (for story), but becomes much easier with time. Overall, they try to have small changes in game play between scenarios, and I think the game does what it's try to do well.

That said, after you've played through the game through once through the elven scenario (w3 elves), I think you've more or less played the entire game, just with slight adjustments to what you want to do.

Finally, I do want to note that the best traits focus on either increasing resilience, with the best basic characters usually having a high base beauty as those attributes are harder to raise otherwise. (relatively speaking).

It's not something I would play repetiviely, but for what it is, the game is good and as such I hit it with a 5/5
