BEWARE SPOILERS

The writing is very strong, as is to be expected by a well known face in the FVN scene like Kraaj. There is some nice character exploration here, and I appreciate the dev is trying out new styles.

Even though the writing for the individual scene was excellent, I must admit I found myself starting to wonder if this story was going to have a point to make or if this was just going to be an "enjoy the ride" kind of story. I think the ending manages to elevate the story and to establish an interesting connection to the theme of the jam: did we just read a horror story about vampirism, or did we just read a story about a gay man cheating on his partner with a married straight man? Good stuff!

I do have to admit though, while the ending was strong and the character stuff engaging, I still struggle to think of the narrative as very cohesive. We spend so much (I think most of the wordcount, in fact) exploring the backstory of one of the victims, and I fail to grasp at how this helps framing the protagonist or vice versa. Despite this feeling like a character study and despite the narrative spending so many words delving into their pasts, the characters end up feeling a bit generic and stereotypical.

Still, while I think the narrative could have been stronger on the whole, the writing is still top-notch!

I guess I should say something about the audiovisual elements too. I like the game a lot visually, the game taking place during nighttime means that the monochromatic backgrounds fit the atmosphere perfectly and subtle lighting effects are used very appropriately for the sprites. The audio does feel incomplete though, with long stretches of complete silence.
