I've been following this game since V0.42 and the core gameplay has not improved at all. Good job putting this up on itchio for easy access, but it's still so miserable to actually play. Even the most basic of metroidvania games, especially lewd ones, will put you back at the start of the zone when you die. Especially if you die to something like falling down a hole.
This game is not fun. That's the major downfall. It's punishing in most regards and poorly designed in just as many ways. In short, the gameplay is very, very bland, and its only difficulty comes from artificial environmental BS. Save points are few and far between and death can wipe away 10 minutes of time in a second. The vore itself is very nice to look at, but still fails to actually function for anything more lewd due to its pacing. All in all, just a very unengaging game that leaves much to be desired.
The game's difficulty is entirely in the setup of its environment. Enemies are easily defeated by just smacking them with the single meaningful attack you have, then dodging when they prepare to attack. That's fine in a porn game. I'm not here for ground breaking gameplay. What I'm not fine with is when you design maps around platforming, but immediately kill the player for falling. Or for being grabbed by a vore enemy that then falls and kills you both. The game, in essence, punishes you for actually playing in many areas. You could, instead, go afk for 5 minutes and return to a map with no enemies. But that's not playing the game. So why bother? Genuinely terrible design.
It also punishes you for wanting the vore. Not uncommon, but also not fun considering that save states are annoyingly far apart. Oh, you want to see that enemy's animations? Platform across a bland, often times aggravating, map all the way back to your most recent save point so that you don't lose the stupid gold you get from killing enemies. There are no "lives", so if you get eaten, that's it. Bye bye earnings.
This game could easily be improved drastically by simply adding basic QoL features, such as not instagibbing when falling down a stupid fucking hole on a stupid fucking level full of stupid fucking conveyor belts. This is the level that made me quit the first time I played this a few months ago, and I had hoped something, ANYTHING, had changed since then. It hasn't. The game's difficulty still exists purely from dumb design that serves only to make the game a chore to play. Why make a level that can be beaten without effort by literally NOT playing the G A M E. By playing that level, you are actively choosing the most difficult and least enjoyable route. That is, by its very nature, the antithesis of good game design.
The actual vore aspect could be easily improved by taking not only a basic mechanic for games like this, but a mechanic from the single most polished vore game we've yet seen. The classic, the legend, the fantastic Milia DX (Echidna Wars DX) gives you multiple lives along with multiple stages of being swallowed. Not only does this allow you to enjoy being digested multiple times (if that's your thing), but you also get different and escalating degrees of engagement with the animation as you're whittled down in HP. The former takes very little effort to implement whereas the latter would take far more effort. However, many porn games tend to ignore simple things like this to stake their claim on being "Difficult". Kind of like how breaking a wall with only your forehead is "difficult". Doable, but definitely not enjoyable.
Just another game with plenty of potential, but none of the execution to make it shine.
