The dialogue gives me 'Night in the Woods' vibes, and that's just about the biggest compliment I could give a game, dialogue wise. That being said, the pacing was sort of odd at some points and the characters weren't developed enough for any emotional attachment to take place. I think it honestly just needs to be longer. Like, a lot longer.
