What a cool multimedia experience. Not just a story, but a story told through outdated visuals, setting it firmly in a place (the internet) and a time (the late 90s). I love the authenticity of the old internet explorer browser windows, the AOL instant Messenger interface, all straight from windows 95.What's so interesting to me is we never see the horrific imagery talked about by the forums posters is never shown, though there seem to be links to click to see them. It feels like we are placed in the perspective of a character, perhaps a child, searching the web, discovering and downloading the screensaver, and taking turns watching the screensaver run and going on a deep dive looking more into it's secrets. But they never witness it's horrors, unless you count sightings of the red spheres. So it makes you wonder if they even exist, if they really are the product of some bored children on the internet making copy pasta horror stories.
