Despite a likeable cast of characters and a welcome focus on the relationships and overall slice of life over the dramatic buildup like a standard dating sim, YAGS unfortunately spends too much time attempting to fill its runtime with "genuine gameplay" such as time management and a grades system. 

It fails to find a way to appropriately develop its relationships, romantic or otherwise, past the initial get together, while constantly repeating the same routine interactions day by day. 

This leaves each ending feeling abrupt, thematically unsatisfying, and as if the player themselves did something wrong, while interesting conflicts, hang ups, or tension simply fade into the background along the way.
