TheRealArma rated Love & Sex : Second Base

TheRealArma rated a game 1 year ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

Man... There's so much that could be said about this that I feel like I'd be spewing word vomit if I tried. I mean, I'm not going to try for it but if it turns out that way it turns out that way.

This game has a lot more depth than most, and I don't mean that in a bad way. It might not be something most people enjoy but I loved it and was happy to see the things that worked as I expected them to! First moment when Sasha and Bree were in the same room "Huh... I wonder if Bree will react if I were to kiss Sasha" and, to my surprise, there was a reaction! There have been other games I've played where there wouldn't be any reaction, even if it was a points based one and not an actual one. But in this case it can be both! That isn't even to mention the player stats and all the different character stats!

Speaking of the characters, I really like all their designs too! You tend to see a lot of similar character designs and appearances (though, to be fair, most other games are using koikatsu, honeyselect or daz), but in this not only is everyone visibly distinct. Not only that, but their styles match their personalities! On top of all that, every character actually has a personality! There's a good number of games that have characters that look different but all sound the same. Like, the goth girl sounds the same as the tomboy, the tomboy sounds the same as the bubbly girl. Whereas in this game if you were to have someone read you a random line from a character you could easily tell "Oh, that's Bree" or "Oh, that's Sasha", etc.

I think the main thing keeping this from being a 5 star for me is that some of the dialogue/events felt a little jarring or out of order at times.

For example, my MC had yet to talk to Bree or Sasha about Samantha but when they were in the bar they'd poke at her knowing full well who she was and that she picked Ryan over us. It wasn't until after that where MC would be talking to them in the living room the whole story regarding Samantha, Ryan and MC would come up.

Then there's with Minami moving in where he's telling Bree and Sasha "Remember when I talked about Minami?" no, because not once has that ever come up before this point. I mean, I suppose it happened off camera, but like... It still feels out of nowhere.

There's also mentions of going UP the stairs into MC's room even though his room is DOWN a set of stairs. I guess maybe at one point in the development cycle his room was upstairs but now it's the basement? Either way.
