While I'm not a proponent of political horseshoe theory, for art, there is certainly a point where something is so (traditionally) bad, it ends up arcing up to be good again.
The translation of 3001 is rough, not going to lie, but the triangulation of what we think might have been meant, what was actually said, and the surreal/slightly horifying visuals hit a "dramatic irony" sweet spot which had me laughing when reading this on stream with friends. "God, let there be a soup" is a line that will stick with me forever.
I will say that the pacing slowed down a bit at the end when the two main characters get to talking, and if this game updates, might be a potential trouble spot to keeping the narrative interesting.
One of my mantras is that the worst thing writing can be is boring. As a self-contained update right now, 3001, even with its flaws, was more anjoyable than some presentable, but boring, visual novels out there.
