Simple, to the point, and works really well for any Jenga-using game, not just Dread! I'm thinking specifically of The Wretched / The Wretched & Alone solo, particularly, which was the first encounter I had with needing "tower" *cough* blocks and not having them -- and I've been looking for a tool that would allow me not to have to hunt down and buy a set of blocks to play by myself in my office (and probably annoy half the household knocking over) ever since ;D
I'm rating 5 stars because a full star seems a bit much to downgrade for this meta a complaint -- but if we had half points would probably put it at 4.5 -- it's a totally different SKILLSET from tower blocks. So people y'know, hypothetically, no one I know, who are really good at Jenga tower blocks because what they're good at is figuring out strategically which blocks are weight-bearing and slowly, carefully removing the others without bumping them will not (necessarily) be as good at this game, because it relies on very fast reflexes.
(In the context of Wretched and Alone games -- haven't played Dread -- that CAN transfer over to the situation, but since you're usually doing a block tower to see if you survive some kind of epic monster, it would be cool to have an OPTION of what amounts to strategic stealth over fast reflexive action. Buttt that said, that combination of identification and precision is hard to replicate in a simple game! My thought is having every other level have some kind of puzzle where you have to do something a little like the game Operation, where it doesn't touch the walls. Again: not as easy to code.)
THIS GOT LONG. Ultimately I'm happy to have ANYTHING with a mechanism as to how to count block falls and will definitely link this on my solo game journal etc. ...Even if I end up dead more often. And I'd definitely recommend this get tagged for Wretched and Alone or at least titled clearly as a Tower Block tool so people can find it faster.
