Klagarn rated Legacy Quest

Klagarn rated a game 7 years ago
A browser game made in HTML5.

A bit high on trial-and-error thinking, alleviated by the ability to save anywhere. Mostly a bit frustrating to at the same time have a level timer counting down, AND a heavy focus on waiting for and lining yourself up with enemy cycles in tight areas. The levels are also a bit long for this, meaning reaching a safe place and saving won't help if you still took 10 seconds too long

Basic idea of making you push yourself to go fast through hard stuff is cool, I just wish it was done with a "par" system like super meat boy rather than a strict mario death timer (which are more fine in mario since the levels are less strict)

Most important criticism: SOME SOUND EFFECTS ARE 10 TIMES THE VOLUME OF THE REST OF THE GAME. I'm guessing this happens because of the chiptune synth, if the effects are several noise channel sounds playing at the same time or something. Playing with sound off is fine, but this is one reason volume sliders are important

Don't see this as discouragement, there's some good bones to build off of. Keep on making games!
