HoneyshuckleEX rated Curse of the Crescent Isle DX

A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

The Curse of Crescent Isle DX is a puzzle platformer where you pick up enemies and use their powers to traverse levels. Each enemy does something new, and they are very consistent. However where things start to get rough is in the details. Whenever there’s an action section, or platforming without enemies to use, the game gets very sluggish and grueling. There’s also pits that cause insta-death and can be a pain. I think one of the areas that sums this up the most is the final area, where there’s this tower that introduces a new mechanic; Wind. This wind is Regularly changing directions, without a transition phase, or warning, making it very difficult to adapt to. From what I remember, the wind is only on a single screen, but boy was I on that screen for upwards of 30 minutes. Point being, the game would be better if it leaned even more into the puzzle aspect, and less into the combat and platforming. That said, great experience for the price.
