Jishogi is a really excellent game, I enjoyed every minute I had with it! It has so much personality that it really stands out among other indie games in its genre.

The creator, Prism, apparently wasn't entirely happy with the sprite work, but honestly I found all the visuals to be really charming, even the rougher or simpler sprites. Aside from visuals, I thought the sound design and audio were all pretty great as well, was very pleased with all the game sounds and all of Prisms music. The puzzles themselves were all pretty fun too, I really enjoyed them, though some were more engaging than others.

The absolute strongest part however was the writing, the characterization of both Mayu and Fifield is super strong and super well done. Since the game centers around them and their relationship this was the most important thing to hit and Prism really nailed it, I love them both so much and they really are both super fleshed out and fully realized.

The game is well paced, engaging, charming, and just generally well realized. I really love this game and hope Prism keeps writing, I'd love to see more stories like this. If you think this is your type of game, then you are right! Its really a gem!
