I really want to know what would be in the "..." :D
It's also good that it's short so you really have not a big time barrier to retry it again to see what the other answers offers to you.
Different endings would also be interesting. Some way leads to no hope but the character explores more of the house (like the rat) )and you get a (more) detailed view about his/her situation and other way leads to hope to leave the house, but you never will know if the person mades it out of the snowy land. Or the writing also influence if the character finds more wood to keep the fire running.
Anyway, you made a good thing. :)
