Hello fellow itchies,

I've been trying out butler for my new game but am having a problem with the itch app. After pushing an update patch butler says its successful. If I try to download the game via the app on my local pc it's fine and downloads and updates as it should, but if I try on any other pc (friends and family has tested) it gives a "Error: JSON-RPC 12000: itch.io API error (400): /games/176772: invalid game" error. What's strange is that if they go online and just download a one shot version from google itch it works fine, just not in app.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Bump, anyone experience this?

If people knew, they'd answer. No need to bump the topic every few hours. Have you tried contacting support?

The 400 error means that the person downloading does not have access to the game. If it’s draft then no one except the owner has access, even if you use the secret URL. If it’s restricted then the owner must have a key to download. Hope that helps

I am having a similar issue.  I have a project in "restricted" access and I've generated a download key.  I have the itch.io app on one PC and I successfully used the key to install the app.  I then installed the itch.io app on a different PC, logged in with the same user from the first PC, and tried to use the same download key after publishing an update and I get the invalid game error.  The game updated as expected on the first PC.

We have a few testers I'm trying to document this process for and I'm not sure how to continue as it doesn't seem to work after the download key is used once.  Even though I did NOT select the option to allow the key to be claimed.  My intention is to use the key for a few testers and not have to send them updated keys all the time.

Thanks for any further info you can provide!

Exactly what’s happened to me and it’s still broken. Wound up telling all beta testers to download each update from google which is a pain for them. Hope we can get another mod to come help.
