Hi there. So I'm thinking of posting an asset I made for a game but it was never used. I not expecting much but I feel it be good to get it out there to use. It is a chest and I have it where I drew it with it open and close. Now please bare with me, for a file such as that, should i just include it in it size and on the cover page have a watermark on it.  Just like to get a good sense. The chest is 2d from the front that show it oepn and close at about 800 pixels

Are you planning to sell that asset? In that case what you suggested is a good idea, putting a watermark that’s hard to remove.

I’m not sure what your question is about? As far as I’m aware, you are free to publish mostly any work you own, including assets. There is not a guarantee on downloads/interest, but you have nothing to lose.

Just make sure you are very clear on what users should expect when downloading your work. For example if they will receive a simple rasterized image (like a .png) or an asset that represents vector graphics (like .svg).

About sizes, I would only suggest when showing off your asset, to show something lower-scaled, as that reduces the chances of someone being able to remove the watermark. Also keep in mind the asset size maximums that Itch imposes.

If I may ask what kind of watermark would be a good idea.  Also that is something I didn't know about that I should put in how it should what kind of file type so I really appreciate that information.

I appreciate the info too, yeah I didn't know if I should post it on the preview as the actually size or a higher or lower size for the preview.

Also I'm ok if no one has an interest in it. I just wanted to give it a shot but wanted to make sure I was presenting it correctly. Not just something that looked glue together in 5 seconds.

For the most part, there are no “strict” rules when publishing your work, as long as you own the rights to it. The watermark is just a suggestion, so people can’t just steal your asset without paying (assuming it’s a paid asset).

The watermark can be anything that sits on top of the asset in such a way that it can’t be removed easily.

If you plan just to show-off your asset without selling it (so for free), then I’d say just go for it. You wouldn’t need a watermark in this case. Just make a simple page and keep adding on it over time.
