Paypal and Payoneer fees

My account is set up as collected by itch and paid later.

This may be my limited experience, but PayPal and Payoneer fees seem excessive. I've tried both to see if there's any difference and they both take 12.5% of gross revenue simply for moving payments to itch and then back to my account. That's money I'd prefer to give to itch for running servers and adding new features to the site.

Is it just my experience or is everyone else also paying similar fees? Can I expect that less of my earnings will go to PayPal if I change to "direct to you" payout mode?

Where are you, if you inside the USA then the rates stay the same while anyone else may have lower fees. i am planning on starting payoneer since paypal is not helping me and forcing me to use their check.

Are you talking about payment processing fees or payout transfer fees? Payment processing fees are unavoidable and are applied when each time a buyer purchases something. Regardless of using our payouts mode (with PayPal or Payoneer) or using direct payments (with Stripe or PayPal), you’ll have the same fees applied to your account. Typically around 2.9% + 30 cents. The + 30 cents part can represent a substantial portion of your earnings depending on how you’ve priced your work. For example 30 cents of a 1 dollar payment is 30%, 30 cents of a 2 dollar payment is 15%, etc. You can avoid high payment processor fees by selling your work for a higher price.

As for payout fees, it’s typically not done by percent of total payout, but by a fixed cost. If you’re seeing any other fees then those are transfer fees applied outside of our platform.

If you have a particular payout you want us to take a closer look at email our support team with the payout ID and reference this topic and we can investigate. Please email us using the address that owns the account in question.

Thanks

Thank you for your clear and informative reply.

For the benefit of everyone interested in fees I'd rather share it here as a theoretical scenario.

I made a mistake in the initial calculation, the actual payment processing and transfer fees vary between 8-12% of gross revenue so it averages to 10%.

So in my case the works I'm selling range between 10 and 20 USD in price and typical payouts range from 200 to 400 USD. Payment processing fees account for ~5% of the 10%.

This leaves another 5% taken by transfer fees. Is there a resource or table I could use to calculate the transfer costs? I can see Payoneer/Paypal websites to learn about payment processing fees.
