How does itch.io know if a game was started before the start date in a game jam?

What the title says. I want to join my first jam and am just curious how they do this. Thanks!

We can't possibly know that, of course. It works on the honor system.

Ah ok thanks!  I was just wondering because on the Isolation Game Jam they say that they check if you started the game before, and was curioius to how the heck they would do it.

Ah, in that case you'll have to ask the jam organizers how they do it.

When you join a jam, the date your files are uploaded is displayed below their filename. Additionally, your game’s More information section shows when you page is originally published. Although we don’t have an automated check right now (we will be adding it), a jam host can go to your page and see if you’ve created the page or uploaded files before the jam has started.
