40% in fees?

Hey there! I have $73 in gross revenue, but can only payout $42.70. As of writing this post, the last purchase was performed 16 days ago - which is over the 7-day holding period. $42.70 is 60% of $73, which means that Itch is taking 40% in fees - way higher than Steam. Is this right?

I sent helpdesk a ticket on the 16th of January about this and had no response - ticket number is 39805. I have also tweeted Itch, also with no response.

Am I just really dumb and this is how it's supposed to be, or did I mess something up somewhere? I could really use the money :(

Thank you for reading.

Hiya!

The first thing to check is what you've set for itch.ios share in the settings: https://itch.io/user/settings/seller/revenue-sharing Since you can set it on a slider from 0% and above. Double check what it's at to see if that could be contributing to the large percentage being taken away.

Though I suspect the largest culprit probably lies within your tax information: https://itch.io/user/settings/seller/tax-information

Is the withholding rate 30%/40% by chance? I'm not from the US, so admittedly I'm not sure what the default rate would be for most from there, if anything at all, so others would have to chime in on that.

It's worth researching just to make sure they've got the correct rates set for you, and if you may need to update your tax information or not!

Hey FrostWorks! Thank you! The tax withholding is indeed 30%, and the revenue sharing was set to 10%, which accounts for the total missing 40%. Thank you so much for clearing this up for me!

No problem at all! I'm glad I was able to help!

I recommend looking into providing your tax number when completing the tax interview. There are many sellers on itch.io from the same country as you that have a reduced withholding rate because they have supplied the relevant information. If you need to retake the tax interview you can contact support. Hope that helps.
