Obligation to pay for the update

Why do people who bought my game have to pay during an update? I receive complaints about this.

Could you provide more information. Are you a developer on itch.io, is there a particular project you’re having issues with?

If someone buys a game on itch.io then they can download the latest version of the project from their purchase page.

If you want to familiarize yourself with the purchase flow you can look here: https://itch.io/docs/creators/how-buying-works

I just had some feedback from former buyers who tell me they have to pay for the new version of the game.

After consultation, players were a little lost when I put a new version online. Everything is ok now.

I’m looking at your page Cutish and I think I see the issue. You’re giving out a demo for a paid game by using an “individually priced file.” Those have special rules about who can access them depending on the price the person bought the project for. I highly recommend using our built in support for demos.

Set the minimum price on your project to what you want. Then, for the demo file, check the box next to the file that says it’s a demo.

That way if you change your projects price in the future, and previous buyers will still access the paid game.
