RINGER - a cyberpunkish storygame

Greetings! :D

I want to share with the community my second itch.io prototype: RINGER.

Last year I tried the Inktober Challenge as a game designer. I wrote 20 games — then I got sick. This year I wanted to celebrate the Challenge in a simple, more direct way — so, I choose a word from the 31 of the Inktober and I design a single prototype around it.

This is how RINGER came to life. I wrote it in about 12 days. It's a story game, masterfull and with six-sided dice (but you don't roll them!). There's no handbook, but a deck of 62 square cards. Revealing cards from the top of the deck, you play the story and learn the game.

Here's the pitch:

You live in a society shaped by the RING (uppercase), something that changed your life. It could be a technological marvelous, a secret organization, a NASA prototype, a isolated community, or a widespreaded cult. You will decide it during the game.
In this society, some people have access to particular things — such as power, techs, or abilities — called rings (lowercase). This makes you a Ringer. Each of you have a Purpose and a Hope or a Fear that will guide your step into the future.
A future that is threaten by a mysterious shadow. It could be something that will change the RING's society forever — or will lead it to a renewal.
Will you be strong enough to face the shadow?  Or the shadow will crush you and the RING?

Like any prototype, the first trials were... kind of interesting! :D I smoothed some rules and makes some changes. We are currently at the 4th Version of the game — that will also be translated into Italian, my first language.

I hope RINGER could rise interest in the community since I am in search of feedbacks and critics. ^_^

This looks really cool! I'm glad to see more physical games coming to itch :)
Guess I'll have to get my hands on a printer :D

Thank you for your comment! :-)

I really appreciate your interest and since cyberpunk is my favorite genre, I’m looking forward to have some feedback outside my country.

There is, indeed, quite a well developed community about physical games in Itch.io! I discovered it thanks to a TTRPT Jam and it’s growing. Well, this site is amazing ^_^

Hope you found the 4th version print with the guide for cutting - in the first export there were invisible. O.o

Thanks again! Have fun with RINGER!
