A forum section where Youtube reviewers/streamers and developers can contact each other?

I've brought this up on good old IndieDB as well ; )

While searching for free games here on Itch to potentially play and review for a YouTube channel, I noticed the occasional user post a comment on the occasional game, mentioning that they've played, reviewed and posted a video about their game. Both the developer and Youtuber seemed be in the process of slowly growing their audiences and both parties appeared to receive some incremental benefit from their interaction here. I was wondering if there was an opportunity for a more accessible form of direct interaction between these two types of creators here on the forum pages. A forum section where aspiring developers can contact and offer their work to aspiring content creators or vice versa. I haven't seen a category for it but I have been away for a while. Perhaps there is more detriment than benefit in streamlining the interaction this way that I've overlooked.

Thoughts?

It's worth noting that the best way to get a streamer's attention is to email the streamer directly, and that most of the time, they want to play whatever games are popular, or they'll go browsing on itch for a game to play.

Itch had a related feature in the past, the press system. It was abused pretty quickly and ended up dying.

Hey, sorry for the late reply, I wanted more responses to accumulate on this post to see what I thought about it all. So this is interesting, the press system. I assumed one of the ways a Youtuber/Streamer/Dev network would be abused is that devs would thoughtlessly spam the streamers with rubbish. Looking at the page, I'm auessing the abuse of the press system was people making fake Youtube accounts to get free games? What was the abuse?

Also great to see you reply on this post years before on the same topic. Was this post (5 years ago) before the press system?

I mean Im kinda liking this idea i don't see much harm in it..a content creator could just create jams doesn't even have to be themed devs just show what they've been working on...honestly think alot of devs would jump on that do it like maybe monthly winner gets there game streamed for a month and even the non winners at least gets eyeballs on there game if even a moment.would be alot for the content creator to keep up with if the submissions flooded in ..

I like your additional ideas. But yes, the content creators getting flooded by crap and potentially, dangerous files is a downside I can anticipate - and at this stage, can't(haven't) think of a work around.

I really like this idea—creating a dedicated space where indie devs and YouTube creators can collaborate would benefit both sides. Developers gain organic exposure, and creators get fresh content that aligns with their audience. A structured section or matchmaking thread could streamline this process and cut down on random outreach. Done right, it could strengthen the whole indie ecosystem on itch.io.

On point. Seems like a structured discussion section beforehand would suppress the amount of spam for the content creator to handle. Exactly the point I recently noticed brought up in an older post
