How should I promote my game?

The first version of my game was for a very specific niche.

I wanted to make the second part for a more general audience.

How do you recommend I let that more general audience know that they can play my game without seeing anything they don't like?

Lately, I've been limiting myself to promoting on Reddit, but there aren't many communities where I can do that, and I think my main problem is the way I search for my target audience.

Any advice?

I would suggest separating the second part from the first one, especially if they're targeted to separate people. It can make it a little hard to convince someone the second part isn't related to the first part. Also, it's a little to late to do marketing now that you already released it, and will soon be off of the recent page and other visibility boosts that new games get. I also linked to a blog that is a great marketing resource. Do know that it is mainly targeted to having success on Steam, and if you really want to reach a more general audience you should release on Steam, but the marketing principles should transfer over. https://howtomarketagame.com/

Thanks!
I think it's difficult to separate the two parts considering that the lore is the same.

im quoting myself, as i posted it to someone else before, i hope you dont mind

"make your games free at first, theres nearly no other option if you're just starting out, keep your games free get people to play and rate or comment on it and try to collect followers, the chance to sell something rises with your follower count, or you just have luck and your game hits the nerv and thousand of youtubers post their lets plays lol well never happended to me yet also didnt sold much yet my follower count now is 316 ;O
but if you want to make some money i have a small hit try to join co-op bundles, best way to do so is visit itch discord i think mostly the money taken in by a bundle gets equally split, or it is a help bundle where you get no money but i highly suggest to join any bundle you can such bundles otften raise unbelieve able high amounts of money, but thats not the point the amount of bundles sold also puts YOUR game in everyones libary who purchased a bundle and the last such bundle i was happy to be part of was no ice in california, which sold over 3000 times = 3000 people now have all my games which brought my a lot of followers and even my first lets' plays by a youtuber lol
anyway if you need help or anything id be happy to do so
(i followed ya'll  would be happy if youd follow back)
best regards, love and peace"

very useful !

Thanks bro, But I doubt I can join a bundle; no one wants to burn in hell with me, even my game's fans keep it a secret.

hey there,

nice it was useful to someone :) concerning bundles: well as i took a look at the screenshots of your game im of the opinion its far within the middle in cases of quality....Bundles Ultimate by -X-ScornGames this is my bundle momvement, it contains links to all bundles ive created, im gioing to create another one in the future, thou i cant name any specifics as I first would have to check out if there even would be some developers willing to join in..... feel free to add me on other platforms as well, privat talking is  a bit hard on itch, and i cant log into my discord account currently..(but soon will be able to again i hope)...

furthermore if you check my latest bundle: https://itch.io/b/2952/ultimate-revivor-bundle-beta-edition if you check out the submissions there, this Snowboarders: Kiri adventures by kiri for instance is absolute bullshit lol, your game is a masterpiece compared to this trash :D So no worries I promise to let you know if i create another Ultimate Bundle and you can put both of your games in if you like to, the revenue is always divided equally.....

best regards, love and peace <3
