Is there a bug with the promotions?

Hye eveyone,

I would like to buy pixel packs but even though it is clearly stated that the pack has a 50% discount I have the impression that it is not available.

For example:

https://penusbmic.itch.io/sci-fi-character-pack-8

Nothing is indicated whereas on another equivalent pack it is clearly indicated:

https://penusbmic.itch.io/sci-fi-dark-edition-character-add-on

Can you help me?

Good day

I would also be interested in an answer to the mechanics of such sales/bundles.

I do can answer your immediate question. The discount is not visible on page, because the first item has no minimum price. But it is on discount, you can find it via tags and see a 50% discount banner. https://itch.io/game-assets/on-sale/tag-science-fiction/tag-side-scroller/tag-to...

But what does it mean to have 50% discount on a page without minimum price? There is individually priced file for $ 1.50. Will you get access to the file, if you pay $0.75 on a 50% discount? Will you get access to the file, if you buy it in a bundle and the bundle price was higher than $ 1.50 or does it split the bundle price among projects for calculation? I have no clue, and the faq does not cover the combination of discounts/bundles and indiviudally priced files.

"I do can answer your immediate question. The discount is not visible on page, because the first item has no minimum price. But it is on discount, you can find it via tags and see a 50% discount banner. https://itch.io/game-assets/on-sale/tag-science-fiction/tag-side-scroller/tag-to..."

Yes, but if you look at the price of the second pack, it's 2.50 (with discount) and the first is 5. So I'm not sure that the first pack is a discount.

https://penusbmic.itch.io/sci-fi-character-pack-8 's price is 0. With an optional bonus file, if you pay $ 1.50 or more. The project is on discount at 50% which you can not see on the page itself, but in the catalogue. https://itch.io/game-assets/on-sale/tag-science-fiction/tag-side-scroller/tag-to... right next to the name it says -50% but without a minimum price to calculate the new price.

https://penusbmic.itch.io/sci-fi-dark-edition-character-add-on 's price is $ 4.99 without discount and currently $ 2.49, because the discount is calculated on page to show the new minimum price.

Both packs are on discount and in a bundle. You do not see the discount on page for the 0 minimum price project, because it does not have a minimum price where the discount could be applied.

I do not know what it means when a 0 price project is on discount and how discounts are applied to these individually priced files:  https://itch.io/docs/creators/pricing#purchase-tiers-through-individually-priced...

For that matter, I also do not know how bundle prices are calculated, if the items in the bundle have such files. Or how a bundle discount would apply.

I was right, the pack is still at 5 so the promotion wasn't applied.

That sale is over.

And I do not know which pack you mean, as there is only one pack that was 4.99 of the two you linked, and that had a 50% discount clearly stated on page. If you bought it at a discount for 2.5 it will be in your library and you can access it. It will even say so on top of the page, that you bought it with a discount.

The other page was 1.50. Not 5. It now is 3.00. So still not 5. If that changed, maybe discounts are applied for individually priced files.

As for me, I've clearly got the two to 5 without the promotions. My question concerned the fact that for identical lots with a promotion, one indicated the reduction and the other did not. I don't see what your problem is. And I'm not accusing anyone, I'm just pointing out a possible problem.

Click a buy button and look in the payment box and above. Above the payment amount will it show the actual minimum price. Any amount shown in the box is a suggestion.

Your first screenshot shows, the project is free to download. The second screenshot ... shows the project page. Click it's buy button and you will see the suggestion is $ 5.00 and the actual price is 4.99. You can enter any price that is more or equal to the minimum price. Any amount over the minimum price is overpayment. It is the pay what you want thing.

These suggestions obviously are not modified by a discount. They're suggestions after all. Only the actual minimum price shown above does matter. You could have entered 2.49 in the box, while the project was on discount, even if the box still shows the undiscounted $ 5.00 suggestion.

It gets complicated, because the actual file on that free project is an indiviual priced file, so paying 0 will not give access to the file.

It is this option when configuring a pay what you want (minimum = 0) project's price:

Suggested donation — Default donation amount

And for a paid project (minimum > 0), you can configure:

Suggest an alternate default price

Suggested price — Default price shown when someone attempts to buy your project

Yes, I know the difference between the minimum price and the price you can pay. And no, it's not a suggestion here because it's the minimum price to get the whole pack. The free content only gives you part of it. And if these minimum prices can be modified by the discount when it comes to getting the whole pack. I know because I've bought packs like that.

So yes, there is a problem with the 5 indicated being the full price when there should normally be a 50% discount.

with the 5 indicated being the full price

... only the 5 is in fact not incidated as the full price. The minimum price is 4.99 without the discount and it was 2.49 with discount. For both projects you linked, the suggested price is 5.00.

The price indicated is the price above the little box where you can write the price.

It took me a while to find a current example on sale, that uses a suggested price. This option is not commonly used on paid projects.

Download this asset pack by purchasing it for $18.00 $4.50 USD or more.

$5.00

Try entering a price below 4.50 and you will get this error message:

You must pay at least $4.50.

The $5.00 that is prefilled in the box is a suggestion. You need to look above, where it says, $4.50 or more.

No, in the first price, it's not suggested, it's the minimum price to get the whole pack and I'd also like to remind you that it was supposed to be on special offer so less than 5 but it doesn't matter, let's stop there.

Have a nice day

I do not understand what you are referring to.

The first project you linked, has a minimum price of 0 and an individual file price of 3.00 and a suggested price of 5.00. The second project has a minimum price of 4.99 and a suggested price of 5.00.

So, none of the projets has or had a minimum price of 5.00 to get the whole pack. But both have a suggestion of 5.00. Being on special offer does not change the suggestion.
