100 Devs, 1 Game - A mass-collaboration Game Jam with a Twist

Greetings,

I'm thrilled to present my Game Jam / Experiment / Community:

Imagine dozens of random people coming together and developing a single video game in 3 weeks. That's what we're doing!

We are a growing community of Godot game developers, artists and visionaries that is looking to accomplish something that hasn't been done before.

Here are the rules:

  • find as many participants as possible ( current phase )
  • once a critical mass has been reached vote on the type of game we are going to make
  • have a planning phase of one week where we split the project into small modules and our members volunteer for tasks
  • finally we start developing this game in a crazy simultaneous mass-collaboration effort with a 3 week deadline

We are always looking for people with competence in:

Planning, Development, Game Design, Art, Audio, Writing / Narrative Design, UI / UX, QA and Testing, Project Management, Community Management, PR

Not sure? Even then you can join our Discord Server and check out what's happening. You don't have to participate. Some people are just there because they are curious how this crazy experiment will turn out.

Currently we are 11 coders and 7 artists and we also already have some solid project managers, but we would still love to grow!

Hey, I read your thread. I am a music composer who will work for free with credit. I’m trying to build my portfolio and keep my hands hot. I'd be honored if you could reply to this message with further instructions if a composer is something that you could use. You can take a look at some of my work on YouTube www.youtube.com/@Swainnn100  and message me here  or on Instagram @swain1.0

Hi, nice of you to reply!

We currently have 5 people loosely committing to sound design but the way we are doing this there will probably always be work to be done in any category. We are still in the pre-planning phase and will probably pick the concrete game/genre to work in a few days.

Depending on how many visual and audio artists we have we'll likely add more features / rely more heavily on those respective categories while finalizing the feature list of the game. So everybody who volunteers for work will have something to do.

And of course, everybody who wants to will be credited accordingly. It's gonna be an open-source project by the way, in the spirit of the GodotEngine we are using.

You can hop on our Discord if you like and see what we have done so far. You don't have to commit to anything or talk to anyone even. And if you have any questions, see potential issues or just general feedback that's also very much appreciated.

If you for some reason don't feel comfortable joining our Server I will of course answer all your follow-up questions here, but being part of the Discord Server is pretty much a requirement eventually for coordination purposes. Although we have this Game Jam site and also going to have a GitHub repository for the game, our server has the best structure for effective collaboration.

This community is literally just 3 days old and constantly growing and there will be updates each day and everyone has a say in how we're going forward. It's very exciting, if I do say so myself, and may even make some waves in the GameDev community if successful, because something like this hasn't really been done before.

I am a QA and interested my discord is Caesargladio
